The time has come to announce the next big LAN. I am proud to present GBLAN's Big Ol' LAN Party: Part Deux scheduled Friday, August 13 5:00 PM through Sunday, August 15 Noon. The LAN will be held at the Beja Shriners at 1950 Bond Street in Green Bay.

We're making this event the best one we've ever done. We have a new venue that is slightly larger and has less restrictions (you can bring in food!). The LAN is going to last a solid 43 hours for plenty of gaming and entertainment, also making this our longest lasting LAN party ever. We are bringing in a big 36 kVa generator to supplement the facility's power so we will have plenty of power available to us. We are planning several events including tournaments and a raffle during the event. Pizza will be served Saturday night to keep everyone fed and gaming. And best of all, we've decreased the price from the last event from $30 at the door to the new low price of only $20 at the door. All of these things combined make this LAN event one of our best values ever! We've haven't decided on which tournaments to run yet, but will post that information as details are finalized. BC2 tourny must be had. Also, will we be allowed to wear the Shriners' silly hats?

cant do bc2 if they dont release lan support, and if they are like previous bf games, then no unlocks will be available, which make the game retarded.

Will we have internet access beyond the 3g card from the facility?

and cod4 with the no unlocks is nice? last big ol lan no one showed anyone how to unlock the 55.
and besides, in bc2 you could easily win with the most basic of weapons.

There will be DSL internet available to us.

I'm not talking about weapon unlocks. I'm talking about the things that make up the classes, like shock paddles, repair kit, ammo packs, etc.

It isn't our responsibility to get your computer fit to play games. If you take 5 min and google cod4 lvl 55 unlock, you would have had it done. If you were installing cod4 for the first time anyway, you wouldn't have stood a chance.

I for the record didn't use the hack and was in the 2nd place team.

Do you have Alzheimer's? Do you not remember me walking around for a solid half an hour getting people rank 55? Hell I spent 10 minutes alone at Duke's machine because he is a moron and fucked something up.

First place team didnt use the hack either.

Whether or not the teams used the hack, is indifferent to me. I am supporting playing the BC2 as a tournament, and used the COD4 example as to why it would work. And no one complained after the the tournament.

I think people can understand and respect that people have unlocks higher then them. Big deal, in FPS skill will always win.

Teeter - playing an internet only game (BC2) would defeat the purpose of a LAN Party.

Besides, say 32 people had the game, it would take an internet connection of at least 5Mbit upload speed to handle the bandwidth. If they included LAN support, I'd be all for it, but in it's current state it simply isn't practical at a large LAN Party.

As I said above, if the LAN support they promised is out by then, then I am for it. Haha.
Mass confusion in this thread.

I supported COD4 without the 55 mod, I support BC2 if (AND ONLY IF) it has LAN support by then. It's as clear as that.

EDIT: Haha I'm an idiot, it was a different thread when I was talking about BC2 LAN support. My bad.

We will only consider Bad Company 2 for an official event if EA releases LAN/dedicated server support in time for the LAN. If it is still online only, it won't be an official event of any type.

*Because gun game is always anyone's game. There is skill, but very minimal. Duke can get that shit running.
