Edit: oops, I stand corrected. Didn't realize EVGA is still intel exclusive for motherboards.

Hey Butane what happened to the talk we had? 6 cores not being needed...; And how you said a 3 core would be just fine for your needs because they aren't even using 6 cores yet.

That's simple, I took the video card out of the budgeting and decided to go all out on the proc/mobo

Oh. Personally I would just get a quad core of your choice, 4GB RAM, and a 9800GTX+ or something like that.

Defect is going to get a good laugh out of this...

So, when I ordered my motherboard I took a real close look and saw that it only has a 4 pin power connector. Sweet. Now I don't have to buy that cable that's in my cart. Two days later I get my motherboard and sure enough, 4 pin power connector, but wait, whats that black thing... Thanks Asus for putting a cap on top of the other 4 pins in your photo, its not misleading at all.

So I order the cable and ship it overnight to make sure I have it for the weekend. Wake up this morning and my package is in route. Perfect. Look back at UPS's website about an hour later and it says "INCORRECT ROUTING AT UPS FACILITY" with a new delivery date. Of Monday. Call UPS, "we screwed up and it went on the wrong truck, but don't worry we will refund your money!" yeah, and having the $19 of shipping back will definitely convert my 4 pin power connector into an 8 pin eps.

Off to buy a power supply I go.

Yes, I know you can run an 8 pin eps off of a 4 pin atx, it works fine, unless you have a 6 core power hog.

I needed to buy a whole new power supply. The one I had was faulty. I'm not using the adapter. It is yours if you want it.

I personally would plan on replacing the power supply in the near future. It is the most under-rated piece of equipment in a computer.

I'm now running a 850 watt thermaltake.
